Choosing the right packaging for your product

The power of product packaging cannot be stressed enough. In fact, it accounts for a major part of a person’s purchasing decisions, which further shows us how important this factor is. It can really help uplift and elevate a product’s presence in a sea of others, which in turn means that consumers will notice it and buy it. Just remember that in order to secure the right kind of product packaging, you need not spend exorbitant sums of money. Not at all. You just need to think strategically, and plan it out step by step so the end result is wholesome and well-executed. Some of these tips should help.


You want to ensure that your product can withstand travelling both long and short distances. After all, if you want your product to reach as many people far and wide as possible, then this is pretty important. So the first thing to consider (depending on the type of product in question of course), is how well it can travel. You do not want the packaging to be overly bulky, nor do you want it to be flimsy since it can cause damage. You need to strike a balance. Think what would happen if you had to wear wool in the middle of summer. Sounds ridiculous right? Well, that is how silly it would be for you to pack your product in the wrong material. You need to thoroughly assess all traits of your product, and find out what works and what does not. Work with the right dimensions and material so that consumers will experience the best of your product. Consumers will not put up with it for long, soon turning to a competitor, which soon enough will spell the end.


There are many reasons as to why this is important. For one, you want to save costs and be economical. For another, you do not want it to be overweight and difficult to transport. If you have to pack multiple numbers of the product in one pack, look at the best way to go about this. You want to make sure it is both appealing and practical. You need not worry about things like efficiency when it comes to packaging many products at the same time if you have the option of an automatic filling line so that is something you can tick off. Just make sure you craft a rational plan that will help sell your product.


The official term for this is ergonomics, but for the sake of keeping things simple, it will be dubbed as ‘consumer interaction with the product’. Yes even the few seconds/minutes people spend opening the product is part of the experience, and actually an important one. So you want to be sure that it is not complicated, but also does not strip them of that luxury. It is a delicate balance, one that needs to be carefully crafted for optimal results.
